Today I overheard a conversation between two teenage girls. One asked the other what remembrance day was even for and the other couldn’t answer! I had to walk away or else I may have screamed; I was am horrified and deeply saddened that less than 100 years after the end of World War One, some of us are already forgetting.

I will never not be moved by the sacrifice people made then, and continue to make now. I will never not stand up at 11am on November 11th and remain silent for two whole minutes in remembrance of all those who gave their lives in the services, as well as those who faught and lived. I will never let my children grow up ignorant.

I will never forget.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
